The Front Door and Back Door restaurants were originally opened in 1996 and 1998, respectively by Donna Sansone and her daughter Krissie. Both are located in an historic building on Main Street at the corner or Fourth Street South (Catfish Alley), in beautiful downtown Columbus.
Both dining rooms offer sit-down lunch service, featuring home-made soups, freshly prepared salads, sandwiches and wraps, plus a large selection of dessert specialties. Our chicken salad and tortilla soup have become the restaurants’ signature lunch items.
The business was purchased by Chef Sarah Labensky in April of 2006. Chef Sarah added a gourmet retail shop to the Front Door, then completely redecorated the Back Door dining room and began serving Sunday Brunch.
The building itself has a storied history as a department store, funeral home and juke joint. It even hosts a friendly poltergeist, whom the staff refers to as George.
Under Chef Sarah's direction, the restaurants' reputation for fine cuisine served in a friendly atmosphere has grown, garnering rave reviews for both on-premise dining and for catering private events. Please join us soon to see for yourself!
